About the programme

ASYCUDA Programme Strategic Plan

The ASYCUDA Programme provides technical assistance to member states for managing international trade and transport operations in a modern, automated environment. Its strategic goals leverage innovative capacities to respond to the demands of members and partners, and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Programme.

ASYCUDA is a computerised customs management system covering most foreign-trade procedures — manifests, customs declarations, accounting, warehousing and suspense procedures — planned in consultation with Customs authorities and related government agencies to fit each trader and transport-operator environment.

Why it matters for Solomon Islands

SICED has run ASYCUDA since 2015 to speed up clearance at Honiara's port and airport and across provincial border posts, cutting administrative cost for the business community while strengthening compliance with the Customs and Excise Act.

The Programme is directed at reforming the customs clearance process — simplifying procedures through computerisation and minimising administrative costs to the economy.
